Jenna
Stepp
RETREAT FACILITATOR . SPIRITUAL DIRECTION . WRITING COMPANION
Jenna Stepp is a Maine-based retreat facilitator, spiritual director, Writing Companion, and founder of BirchWave Soul Care. Jenna creates thoughtful, unhurried spaces where people can listen to their lives, honor their stories, and notice where God may already be at work.
For more than 27 years, she has preached, taught, and spoken at churches, conferences, retreats, and ministry gatherings, with particular strengths in storytelling, encouragement, spiritual formation, and creating meaningful spaces for reflection.
Jenna holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership, with theological and spiritual formation training through Vineyard Leadership Institute and Sustainable Faith. Her experience includes pastoral leadership and church planting, service with Vineyard USA’s National Youth Task Force, nonprofit and organizational consulting, leading pilgrimages along the Ignatian Way, and designing and facilitating retreats for church staff, nonprofit teams, leaders, and other organizations.
Whether speaking at a conference or facilitating a staff retreat, leadership retreat, or Christian spiritual formation retreat, Jenna brings warmth, creativity, thoughtful preparation, and plenty of room for people to engage at their own pace. Her approach is simple: offer enough direction to help people engage, then create room for them to notice their own story, what is happening within and around them, and where God may already be at work.

“One of the outstanding features of Jenna Stepp as a retreat facilitator is that she directs and then gets out of the way. Each participant is given lots of space for their own personal encounter. Jenna is very creative and provides a variety of ways for each person to connect with the topic. Her kind, thoughtful and open approach makes retreats a truly joyful and meaningful experience.”

“I found Jenna Stepp to be the warmest retreat director I have ever encountered. The preparation, the execution and the experience was beyond the normal. I have hosted and participated in a number of retreats and there is no comparison to the calm, depth and the rhythm that I experienced in a retreat, EVER.”

“The retreat that I had attended led by Jenna was excellent! She incorporated a variety of components, giving the attendees the opportunity to learn & experience different ways to connect with God. She is a very gracious & compassionate leader, with an obvious passion for God & people. I left feeling refreshed, inspired, & with some new tools to help me along on my faith journey.”

“What I appreciated most about the retreat was having the space to slow down and really think. I don’t often give myself that kind of time in the middle of everyday life, and there was something really beautiful about being able to pause, reflect, and just be present. The guided activities were also really helpful and gave me some support and structure as I worked through my own thoughts and reflections.”

Why Soul Care?
Life can become so full that we lose touch with what is happening within us—and with the God who is present in the midst of it all.
Soul care creates room. – use visuals
Room To Stop
Because a life without margin eventually costs us something.
Room To Notice
Because we can move through our days without recognizing what is happening within us—or around us.
Room To Remember
Because our stories help us understand where we have been, what has shaped us, and who we are becoming.
Room To Stop Listen
Because God is often already at work before we recognize it.
Room To Delight
Because we were made not simply to endure our lives, but to receive them—to experience joy, beauty, connection, and the goodness of God along the way.
Soul care isn’t an escape from your life.
It’s a way of becoming more fully present to the life God has given you.
